The following pics are Meekal’s- Meekal Hasan. The true jazz guru of Pakistan. Though he himself excels at guitars there is no denying the fact that his band members are equally dexterous: at vocals, at bass and rhythm and drums.

The best part I love about Meekal Hasan Band (hereinafter referred to as MHB) apart from their genuinely true and rich compositions, is their vocals. They’re playing the traditional Punjabi Kafis by Waris Shah. And the Punjabi literature is one thing that has never stopped inspiring me. The traditional kafis and other sophi kalaam of Waris Shah, Bullhaey Shah and others are extremely thought provoking and inspiring.

I wish I was good at understanding Punjabi so that I can read extensive Kafis and Sophi Kalaam. Though I do understand Punjabi but I can’t decipher some of it like …
