Earthquake in Punjab and NWFP

The most disastrous calamity ever to struck Pakistan: the mountainous tsunami. The conditions out there in the areas of Manshera, Haxara, NWFP and Azad Kashmir are simply heart-wrenching.

I don’t even have words to say it all. I had been watching every bit of it on TV and reading every single line printed about it in the newspapers and I just can’t help crying. Tears come out of my eyes every time I see that injured and wounded child lying helplessly in his father’s arm, the girl who is crying over her brother’s dead body and the old man mourning his wife and family.

The circumstances are so devastating, so worst and simply tough and depressing. The number of people in the earthquakes struck areas is above half a million and the death toll is simply unknown to the officials as well as the local masses. Thousands of dead bodies lying here and there are just an indication of the death toll.

The devastation and the damage that has been there is anything but countable. Thousands have died, tens of thousands are injured and hundreds are under the debris and rubble of their homes: homes which are our shelters, our last resorts. Who can thin that one’s own home will one day be the graveyard for him or her?

The number of homeless too is alarmingly high and so is the number of missing people. Kids without parents, old without the support of their dependents and loved ones deprived of their relatives’ care and concern.

This is so miserable that I can’t even find courage enough to say how I feel about it.

Let’s jus pray that may the Almighty help us all, help us in getting back and remaining forever on the Sirat-e-Mustaqeem, help us in searching the light of the truth and help is in understanding HIS power. Amen
