THE DOOMSDAY CONSPIRACY
The latest book I’ve to read. It’s a Sidney Sheldon. Till to date Sidney Sheldon has 18 books in print and I’ve 15 of 'em and have read 15 1/2.
1. THE NAKED FACE
2. IF TOMORROW COMES
3. THE BLOODLINE
4. SANDS OF TIMES
5. STARS SHINE DOWN
6. RAGE OF ANGELS
7. MEMORIES OF MIDNIGHT
8. THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT (Sequel to the preceding)
9. MASTER OF THE GAME
10. THE BEST LAID PLANS
11. WINDMILLS OF THE GOD
12. ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK
13. THE DOOMSDAY CONSPIRACY
14. NOTHING LASTS FOREVER
15. A STRANGER IN THE MIRROR
16. TELL ME YOUR DREAMS
17. THE SKY IS FALLING
18. MORNING, NOON AND NIGHT
Two of the rows in my book shelf are exclusively reserved for my Sheldons. I’m the proud owner of 15 Sheldon books and at times I stand in front of my book shelf and feel a kind of pride in having all of his books. It is so exhilarating to have a collection: be it of books or jewelry or designers’ bags and shoes. The enhanced sense of belonging you feel when you admire your collection is indeed an euphoric experience in itself.
Still I’ve a confession to make. I haven’t read the last two of the aforementioned series. Too bad. If you’re such a die hard of fan of Mr. Sheldon that the day ‘ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK’ is out there in Pakistan, you go rushing to the Liberty right after your school and read the whole of it in 2 nights, you are supposed to read every single line ever in print by your favorite fiction writer. But I don’t know what keeps on happening and the two of the titles were missing out of my collection. (I know the collection is not boast-able to this great extent of self-obsession because many other girls (and some guys too) have it, but so what? I’ve it too).
So I was referring to DOOMSDAY CONSPIRACY. It is here lying next to me but it’s W’s I’ll read it tonight Inshallah. W is my best friend. I mean it. She is so ... LEAVE. Some time later probably.
I’ve always find Sidney o have a certain charm in his work: something unexplainable in mere words. It will take a sesquipedalian effort to exactly describe the feeling I’ve all over me when I’m reading a Sheldon.
Be it THE NAKED FACE (Sheldon’s first work as well as my first intro to this great writer) or IF TOMORROW COMES: Sheldon is a master of creating delicate enigmas of love, hate, passion, betrayal, suspense, passion and intrigue. Obviously you’ve to exclude the latest ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK from the list since I find that to be extremely boring and annoying.
Now let’s see how is the DOOMSDAY CONSPIRACY. Enough for Mr. Sheldon: coming back to my own set of problems.
